Worth the price!

I saw all the most popular places in Venice with this pass, so it was a great deal! It included St. Mark's Basilica, Doge's Palace, and a gondola ride, so I'm really happy. My wife and I had a great guide in the Basilica, and skipping the line at both places was very convenient because it was hot outside. The audio guide that comes with the pass was really useful, too. I highly recommend the pass!

Had the best time in Venice!

We had the best weekend in Venice and got to explore it with this pass. It was easy to choose all the cultural attractions and use the pass at the entrances. Some of the highlights for me were the Bridge of Sighs and seeing a glass-making presentation on Murano.

Venice City Pass

SEE THE TOP SITES IN VENICE

With the Venice City Pass, you can enjoy priority access to St. Mark's Basilica and gain entry to the Terrace for stunning view of the square. You can also choose a live or audio guide so you can learn more about its history. St. Mark's Basilica, or the Basilica di San Marco, as it stands today, was built in 1071. It replaced an earlier 9th-century church that was destroyed during a revolt. The basilica was to house the remains of St. Mark brought from Alexandria. St. Mark is the patron saint of Venice, and his winged lion became the symbol of the Venetian Republic. Its design is Byzantine. It features five cupolas above the cross, which are a symbol of God's presence, and the floor of the basilica is a marble carpet. You may also choose to visit the Pala d'Oro altarpiece on-site. Four bronze horses decorate the basilica. They were added in the 13th century and were brought from Constantinople. Napoleon had them transported to Paris, but they were returned in the 19th century. Today, the originals are kept inside for protection.

VISIT DOGE’S PALACE AND ST. MARK’S BASILICA

You’ll get priority access to:

  • the Doge's Palace
  • the first floor of the Correr Museum
  • the Archeological Museum
  • and the Marciana National Library.

Your pass also includes a digital guidebook with information on St. Mark's Square. The Doge's Palace was the residence of the doges, leaders of the Venetian republic. The original palace was built in the 9th century but later burned. The palace we see today was built in the 14th century. The Bridge of Sighs connects the Doge's Palace and the prisons over the Rio di Palazzo. Its name comes from the sighs of prisoners crossing the bridge. It is said that if people kiss while passing under it in a gondola, they will have eternal love. At the Museo Correr, you can see sculptures by Canova in the Neoclassical Rooms, see where civic authorities were housed, and learn about Venice of the past, like its festivities. On St. Mark's Square, you can see the Old Procurators’ Offices and the New Procurators’ Offices, and the Clock Tower from the 15th century. The Campanile is a 99-meter free-standing bell tower of the basilica. The Marciana Library is next to it. It holds one million volumes, 13,000 manuscripts, and more than 2800 incunabula, located in a 16th-century building, which blends the classical Renaissance style with Venice's architecture.

GO FOR A GONDOLA RIDE

You can choose between a gondola ride in Venice with live commentary or a trip to Murano, Burano, and Torcello. Let a skilled gondolier take you along the canals of Venice and see the city in the best way possible! It is an unforgettable experience, connecting you to the distant past of the city, as they have been in use for a long time. In the 16th century, 10,000 gondolas were being used in Venice! Your gondolier will also tell you about the sights you're seeing in the city, and you can ask them whatever questions you may have.

MURANO/BURANO

Alternatively, you can select a visit to Murano, Burano, and Torcello instead of the gondola ride. Murano is an island where you can see how glass products are made! Glass furnaces were moved to Murano from Venice in the 13th century and became the center for producing Venetian glass. Burano is known for hand lacemaking and fishing, as well as its charming, colorful houses. Torcello is another island where you can see the remains of the Santa Maria Assunta cathedral with Veneto-Byzantine mosaics and the church of Santa Fosca from the 12th century and two palaces from the 14th century.

AUDIO GUIDE

Another great benefit of the Venice City Pass is the included multilingual audio guide. It contains more than 100 points of interest, so you can get the answers to all your questions! When you open the audio guide app, you’ll find:

  • commentary by local experts and visuals
  • offline and interactive maps and navigation
  • and walking and public transportation itineraries to help you find your way!
